Gus Weber- Student Feature of the Week

November 23, 2021 Martyn Cast

Meet our student Feature of the Week – Gus Weber, Age 9, Pupil at St. George’s Preparatory School

1. How long have you been learning guitar with Jenca?

I started playing guitar about 4 years ago. My uncle plays in a band, and he lent me his spare acoustic guitar. I thought I’d give it a go and took up lessons with Mr. Cast through my school and sometimes at Jenca. After learning the basics and taking a couple of exams, I decided to change to the electric guitar. During lockdown, I found learning through Zoom quite tough and definitely not as much fun as playing face to face.

2. How have you found the teaching for your lessons at Jenca?

Guitar lessons are really enjoyable and I always want to stay longer but have to go back to my school lessons. I enjoy learning new pieces, making up songs and jamming with Mr. Cast.

3. What are you currently learning?

I’m taking my RockSchool Grade 4 exam next month so I’m just practicing my 3 pieces most days. I also recently performed ‘Our Generation’ (one of my pieces) in our school’s Festival of Arts evening, in front of 130 parents.

4. Who is your favourite band or artist?

I like lots of different bands from the Beatles, to OneRepublic.

5. What song are you enjoying listening to at the moment?

At the moment I am enjoying listening to ‘Rescue me’ and ‘Counting Stars’ both by OneRepublic.
