A high school passion for music turned into an epic journey
of fun and  discovery for Nic, and ultimately a successful career.
After high school he studied jazz for 3 years , majoring in guitar and vocal
studies. The years that followed were a wonderful mixture of glorious
   moments and hard  lessons learnt.
The following three headings have been the main focus of  his professional career thus far:

Nic has been teaching guitar, vocals, bass guitar, composition and improvisation for the past 13 years at numerous schools and colleges,as well as offering private lessons. Nic enjoys working with students who have a deep creative hunger and passion for knowledge. He is selective with students due to time constraints.

From coffee shop jazz gigs to underground Japanese rock clubs and full blown festival crowds of some 15000 fans, Nic has had the privilege of being part of some amazing experiences. In 2005, Nic and 3 friends formed Desmond and the Tutus, and built the band up touring the UK,Sweden,France,Germany,Austria,Japan and South Africa. They have won an SA award and have an MTV award nomination. The Tutus have played with The Drums, Bombay Bicycle Club,The Prodigy, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Two Door Cinema Club, Bloc Party, The Vivienne Girls, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, St.Lucia, Sawagi, Skunk Anansie, Die Antwoord and many more. They recorded 3 full albums and numerous EPs,with multiple singles reaching No.1 status in SA, as well as finding popularity internationally.

Being a full time musician in a touring band meant Nic spent a lot of time honing both his playing sound and studio abilities. In 2015, Nic took on the management of a beautiful recording studio in SA and spent 2 years training and learning the craft of live recording, session playing and engineering. Over this period,he also refined his skills as a producer, composer and instrumentalist.
